We work for an organization called Kids Alive International. Kids Alive currently has ministries in three separate cities of Peru, Pucallpa (jungle), Andahuaylas (mountains), and Lima (coastal).
We work in Lima, a city of almost 10 million people!
In Lima, we have two separate ministries, a care center and a children's home.
The Oasis Care CenterThe Oasis Care Center is located in Manchay, an area with much poverty on the outskirts of Lima. The Oasis serves approximately 130 kids and their families. The care center was started in 2002 to help struggling mothers and families. (Click here for the story!) The Oasis has grown substantially since its beginnings, but always with the vision and purpose of strengthening the families of Manchay.

We have three areas of ministry at the Oasis Care Center:
- Homework Club: Kids come to the homework club before or after school. Here they receive tutoring and help with their schoolwork, learn life skills like computers or carpentry, and receive a healthy meal. It is a safe place for the kids to be while their parents are at work, as many of them would otherwise be home alone or in the streets in unsafe areas, vulnerable to many dangers. The kids learn about God's love for them, and the Oasis staff provide them with a loving environment, always focusing on building relationships with both the kids and their parents.
- Moms Helping Moms: Each year we choose ten moms to participate in a year-long mentorship and discipling program. The moms are chosen based on need. The moms spend each morning in classes, and each afternoon helping at the Oasis to receive an income. Throughout the year they receive parenting training and are taught sewing, jewlery making, basic business skills and other training to enable them to provide better for their families. Most importantly, they receive intensive discipleship in the hopes that they will connect with Jesus as their hope for the future.
- The Oasis School: The Oasis school began in 2013 with kindergarten only, adding a grade each year. The goal of the school is not only to provide a quality education for its students, but but also to teach Christian character, coming alongside the parents and connecting with the family of each student. In this way we hope to spread roots deeper into the community of Manchay.
The Juniper Tree Children's HomeThe Juniper Tree is home to 20 children who come from situations of abuse, neglect, and/or abandonment. They live in family-style homes with houseparents (mom and dad) and a helper (aunt or uncle). We are still building with the goal of someday having space for 50-60 children. We have full-time care of these children, usually permanently.
For more specifics on our children's home, see here.
