The Last Puzzle Piece

I thought I would keep you waiting in suspense for our last post in our eight-part series that started here. :)

I hope I have given you a pretty clear picture of our ministries here, and the only puzzle piece missing is just how Dan and I fit in to the ministries.

We are part of a five-person missionary team here in Lima; the Fietje family (field directors), Lisa (sponsorship and team coordinator), and us.

Dan serves as the director of the Lima ministries. Both the children's home and the care center each have a Peruvian director, so he is not in charge of the direct day to day running of the ministries, but more the overall direction of the ministries. He provides a lot of support, help, ideas and training for the staff and ministry directors. It is difficult to pin down what exactly he does because it is different every day, and much of it is administrative work. He solves a lot of problems and makes sure everything and everyone is moving in the same direction.

As for me, I don't have any specific responsibilities in the ministry because most of my time goes to raising my family and homeschooling my kids. I try to help out in little ways as I am able, and to be part of the Kids Alive extended family and community. I help Dan as much as I can, mostly with brainstorming ideas or thinking through solutions to problems. And I pray. I realize that I am in a busy phase of life where I won't be able to be very involved in the ministries, but I can pray for the kids, moms, and families that are part of Kids Alive anytime and anywhere.

So that's us, and that's what we do. :) Sometimes living and working here is hard, but for the most part we think that God equipped us well for it and we feel blessed to be part of a work that we enjoy and are excited about.

Thanks for reading, and thank you for the kind words and encouragement that many of you have sent our way recently!
