Ramona Quimby

We received a new girl at the children's home this month. Meet Ramona*, age seven.

When I was trying to think up a fake name for her (*to protect her identity), Ramona immediately popped to my mind, because she reminds me of the Ramona Quimby character in the Beverly Cleary books. She's fun and spunky like her. When I was taking her sponsorship photo she had me running all over the playground as she kept finding better and better places and poses for her photo...on the swing, on the monkey bars, at the top of the slide, at the bottom of the slide, etc., etc. A little model in the making.
Ramona has been attending our care center in Manchay for the last couple of years, but recently her already bad family situation worsened and so we were able to bring her into the children's home. She comes from an extremely chaotic and unstable home situation, with almost no structure or family guidance in her life. We weren't sure how she would do at first upon entering the home, but so far she is doing great and seems really happy to be there. Every time I see her she has a big smile on her face, though unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity yet to spend too much time with her. I do look forward to getting to know her better soon! Please pray for her as she is adjusting to life in the home with new "siblings" and her houseparents, especially once the newness and excitement begin to wear off. We are so glad to have her, and I can't wait to watch her grow and mature, and learn how much she is loved by her heavenly Father!
