Concerning Promptness...

It's a well known fact that I am a late person. My family knows it, my friends know it, my school teachers knew it, all my bosses have known it. I know it drives people crazy and can be very inconsiderate to others.  I've tried to change this about myself many times, and I've had some success but no real long term change. It's in my bones or something. I just do not have an awareness of the passing of time.

I love other late people. They get me. I love that I can count on them being late, because it's likely that Im running late too and then I don't feel as bad.

This is one of God's little gifts to me in bringing me to Peru.  Like many other Latin American countries (and some other parts of the world too), time and promptness is of little importance here in most situations. Its a country FULL of late people! I fit in perfectly! (At least in that regard...) While other North Americans here have to adjust to that cultural difference, I am breathing a sigh of relief. Thank you, Lord!

I love that once we arrived at church 10 minutes late and were the first ones there. They were still setting up. I love that we arrived 40 minutes late to a beach wedding last weekend and still had about 45 minutes to talk to people, put our feet into the ocean, and enjoy the scenery before it started. Ahhhh. So relaxing, stress free, and unconstraining.

Soooo, now that you know this about me, you shouldn't be surprised that its New Years Eve but this is my wishing you a Merry Christmas post. (Look for my summary thoughts on 2012 maybe in mid-January...).

Merry Christmas from the Andersons!

( I also freely admit that I am FAR from being one of those people who have it all together...And that explains why my half-finished Christmas cards are sitting in a pile in the corner of my office instead of in your mailboxes... please feel free to print off this family photo to hang on your fridge ;) haha)
