Two Suitcases No More

One thing that Dan and I have always loved (and also kinda hated) about moving internationally is paring everything we own down to two 50 lb. suitcases. Its feels very clean and simple to have everything you own with you in two suitcases. The simpleness never lasted of course, since as soon as we got where we were going we began collecting things again. But its always nice to see that neat little pile of suitcases.
This is our first time moving internationally with kids. Not quite as simple.

9 suitcases, 450 lbs. of "stuff", 5 rolling carry-ons, 4 backpacks, 1 shoulder bag, 3 car seats, 1 stroller, and 3 pillow pets.  I wish I had thought to take a "before" picture, when there was stuff everywhere, and definitely not in a nice, neat little pile. Now that I look at the picture, I realize not everything is in the picture, but it got a little crazy on moving morning for a photo. No, we didn't take that rocking chair with us (What kind of fool would do something like that?). Haha. And no, that's not THE rocking chair. :)

We left on Monday morning and had a pretty smooth flight to Denver. The girls did awesome.

We are here at the training center with around 40 other people all in the same situation as us--preparing to leave for the mission field (though not all with the same organization as us). There are so many different countries represented here, and its fun to be with like-minded people who have had such similar experiences to us and are about to head into the same scary unknown. We are living in a dorm-like situation; lots of people to hang out with and good conversations. Its a little like being in college again, but with an 8 pm curfew since we have to get the kids to bed! The girls have lots of kids around to play with all the time and are having the time of their lives. Davy is doing great in her class and has made some little buddies too--thank you so much for praying for her!  The training is excellent and we feel really privileged to experience it. God is so good to us. Colorado is beautiful and we are loving it.

But more stories about Colorado another day!

Katie
